Hp Jetdirect Software Windows 10
I was a little overly optimistic and told a client i could get his ancient LaserJet 4P working with his Mac on his new network. I ordered an HP Jetdirect J2382B print server off eBay, and it arrived today.
I am humbled by this ancient technology.
It seems to sit there with an IP of 0.0.0.0 waiting for a BootP server to magically materialize*. I don't have a BootP server, nor do i know how to make one appear. The instructions on HP's site are all prefaced with stuff like 'this only works with firmware x.75.42 etc etc'. According to the test page from the Jetdirect (which prints fine), this thing has firmware B.00.02
Should i just throw it away, or is there any hope?

* and stays that way indefinitely. It doesn't default to 192.0.0.192 like someone said it might.
